Val Egerton - Peel Regional Chair
Val Egerton was born in the city of Lahore – then in British India, now in Pakistan. Val came to Canada via London, England in 1959. She has been married to Joe Egerton for 52 years, has had three daughters Kimberly, Cheryl, and Michelle. The Lord called Kim home in 1994. However, He gave her family two beautiful grandchildren, Justene and Noah. Val has lived in Mississauga, Oakville, and Burlington before moving to Barrie in 1999. Starting from grass roots, Val concluded her career as a Human Resources Specialist with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board after 34 years.
She joined the St. John Vianney CWL Council in Barrie in 2002. She has been a Christian Family Life Chair, an Education and Health sub-convener, a Co-President, President, Past President/Historian, an Organization Chair, and a Northern Region Organization Chair. She participated in the pilot project of the National On-line Membership program and is a strong proponent of the system. She has convened many successful Fundraising Teas and Bazaars for the Parish Council. She held the position of Community life Standing Chair from 2011 - 2012 at the Toronto Diocesan Counci,
Val is very active in church affairs as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and Chair of the Debt-reduction Committee. She served as a Board member and President of the Catholic Family Services Simcoe County, and has been a ShareLife speaker for several campaigns.
Val loves to travel, and has traveled to several countries all over the world. Her travels have exposed her to the way people live on many socio-economic levels. These experiences have developed in her a social conscience, which is why she was attracted into joining the Catholic Women’s League, an organization which she believes, cares for the poor and marginalized – especially women.
