Peel Regional Executive and Parish Councils

Val Egerton was born in the city of Lahore – then in British India, now in Pakistan.  Val came to Canada via London, England in 1959.  She has been married to Joe Egerton for 58 years, has had three daughters Kimberly, Cheryl, and Michelle. She has been blessed with two grandchildren, Justene and Noah. She also has a beautiful great granddaughter Edison Rose. Val has lived in Mississauga, Oakville, and Burlington before moving to Barrie in 1999.  She returned to Mississauga in 2016.

Starting from grass roots, after 34 years, in 2003, Val concluded her career with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board as a Human Resources Specialist.

She joined the St. John Vianney CWL Council in Barrie in 2003, where she served in various capacities.  At the parish level she has been a President, Christian Family Life Chair, an Education and Health sub-convener, and a Northern Region Organization Chair. She participated in the pilot project of the National On-line Membership program and is a strong proponent of the system. She has convened many successful Fundraising Teas and Bazaars for the Parish Council.  She has held the positions of Toronto Diocesan Community Life Standing Committee Chair from 2011- 2012, and Education and Health Standing Committee Chair, 2012-2014.  She is looking forward to serving the community of Peel as Peel Regional Chair.

Val has been very active in church affairs as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Chair of the Debt-reduction and Community Building Committees. She was on the Family of Faith Committee at St. John Vianney Church.  She served as a Board member and President of the Catholic Family Services Simcoe County, and has been a ShareLife speaker for several campaigns.

Val loves to travel, and has traveled to several countries all over the world.  Her travels have exposed her to the way people live on many socio-economic levels.  These experiences have developed in her a
social conscience, which is why she was attracted into joining the Catholic Women’s League, an organization which she believes, cares for the poor and marginalized and focuses on the right to life from birth to natural death.
