Born in Indonesia Andrea is the 5th of 6 children and came to Canada with her family when she was 12 yrs old. She and her husband Paul of 37 years, have 2 young adult sons.
Andrea joined the League in 1996, when her Parish Council, St. Patrick’s Mississauga, needed to fill-in as Christian Family Life convener. In less than 2 years, she was elected Organization Chair and was President 2000 – 2001.
On the regional level, she served as Communications Chair, Recording Secretary, and then as Peel Regional Chair in 2009 - 2011, which has brought her great joy and tremendous growth. While at the regional level, she doubled her contribution, and continued to support her Parish Council at St. Patrick's by filling in as Treasurer, Christian Family Life convener. And then moved forward as a sub-convener to the Toronto Diocesan Christian Family Life Standing Committee chair.
In the spring of 2011, Andrea was invited to be a part of the National ad hoc Leadership Development committee as one of the 2 consultants from the younger generation of League members, under the leadership of Betty Anne Brown Davidson, the then National Organization chair. The fruits of the much labour of love was named "Catch the Fire!" workshop, which was launched at the 2012 National Convention in Edmonton. Andrea was also selected to be one of the two Ontario Provincial workshop facilitators - Sparks, for 2012 - 2014.
Andrea continued to challenge herself by accepting a nomination as a Standing Committee chair at the Diocesan level, and was elected as Toronto Diocesan Communications Chair for 2013 – 2015, then as Community Life Standing Committee chair for 2015 – 2017. And at the same time, she continues her support for her Parish Council at St. Patrick’s as a sub-convener for Organization looking after the On-Line Membership.
Andrea has been an active parish member - as a lector, a past member of the Parish Pastoral Council, Parish Altar Servers training and has helped organized many Parish and Community events. She credits the CWL Leadership & Public Speaking Course she took years ago for giving her the courage and confidence to accept the Parish Council Presidency and be so involved in her parish and community.
After 35 years of working for large corporations, small local and private companies, Andrea has downsized to managing her husband's independent contractor business and part-time work at her parish. Besides her parish and CWL, Andrea's volunteer involvement also includes Vita Centre (a past Board member) and an active member of the ACTS faith community since 2010, and currently the Co-Chair of ACTS Canada Core, as the ACTS Women’s Retreats Support Co-Ordinator.Andrea is looking forward to her next challenge as the Toronto Diocesan Corresponding Secretary, as she continues to serve His people within the League and faith community.
